    Onion chopping tip to avoid tears – do the sad memorial BEFORE chopping. That is, light a candle a few minutes before you start chopping, and when you get to the onions, put it just off beside the cutting board. Not sure about the science on this, but seems to work, specially with onions or shallots which have lived very full lives and wish to spread their zest for life to wind (aka your eyeballs).

    If you give your squash a stab with a knife and stick it into your microwave for about 12 minutes let is cool, it is easy to slice and remove the seeds, at this point its ready to eat, if you like it a little brown put it into the oven for a little bit.

    I tried to scroll through the comments so I apologize if this was said multiple times. Put the spaghetti squash, or any winter squash, in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes and a sharp knife will cut through it easily. My husband and were cringing as you were trying to cut it fearing you were going to cut yourself.

    The onion trick – shove them in the freezer for about 15 – 20 minutes after peeling them while you prep your other veg. It will change your life.

    Also don’t know if someone mentioned. But you can toast up the seeds in oil and salt and eat them. Very tasty.
